The high medieval Buschelberg castle stables are located about 200 meters south of the Bocksberg castle ruins (municipality of Laugna , district of Dillingen an der Donau , Swabia ) above the Laugna valley. The well-preserved ground monument is protected by the forest and is freely accessible.

history

The stately tower hill (Motte) could have been a predecessor of the nearby Bocksberg Castle. The function as the seat of one of the servants of the originally noble gentlemen von Bocksberg should also be considered. However, there are no clear references to the history and function of the facility in the local historical sources.

description

The ground monument has the typical flattened cone shape of a high medieval tower hill castle. What is unusual here, however, is the hillside location of the main castle cone, which is surrounded by a ditch in the west and north. In the north there is also a low edge wall, in the west a spacious terrace . The terrace is about halfway up the slope, then the terrain drops very steeply.

To the east, a wide depression separates the castle from the hinterland. The neck ditch that was undoubtedly once in place is completely filled in; other earthworks as the remains of a bailey are no longer detectable above ground.

The Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation lists the ground monument as a medieval castle stable under monument number D 7-7430-0006.
