The Postal Weissenburg refers to the location a Outbound Höhenburg on a north-facing 380  m above sea level. NN high mountain ledge over the Neue Weinsteige in the garden behind the demolished Villa Weißenburg in Weißenburgpark around 1400 meters south of the city center of the state capital Stuttgart in Baden-Württemberg .

history

It is assumed that the castle was built before 1250; the builders were the Counts of Württemberg . The castle was first mentioned in 1263 when Count Ulrich von Wirtenberg issued a certificate at the Weißenburg and on January 18, 1270 the Lords of Weißenburg issued a document once.

At the end of the 13th century, the castle is presumably owned by Berthold von Mühlhausen, but will soon return to the rule of Wirtemberg. In 1312 the castle was destroyed and in 1659 it was mentioned in the land register as "Weißenburg, departed Burgstall".

1844 is Fellgersburg built by the brothers Fellger on the castle grounds and initially served as an air and whey sanatorium and later as a private educational institution and preservation .

Before 1927 the Fellgersburg became the Villa Weißenburg for the Privy Councilor Dr. hc Ernst Sieglin renovated and expanded. 1959 to 1960 the park is redesigned and equipped with a viewing platform on the castle hill. In 1964 the Villa Weißenburg was demolished.

description

No visible wall remains of the former castle complex have survived, only a few remains of an inner and an outer neck ditch are still visible. The castle hill has an area of about 35 by 15 meters. The barely recognizable outer bailey originally had an area of around 50 by 40 meters. The old access from the valley to the castle was the "Burgstaig", which can still be seen in its course. A working tea house and a marble hall are still preserved from the Villa Weißenburg. Both buildings were restored in 1989.
