The Burkett Nunatak is a 2180 m high nunatak in the East Antarctic Victoria Land . It rises 1.5 km east of the minaret nunatak from the monument nunatak core .
The United States Geological Survey mapped it on the basis of its own measurements and with the help of aerial photographs of the United States Navy between 1960 and 1964. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1968 after Willis A. Burkett (1931-1998), electrical engineer of the VX-6 squadron US Navy, who participated in six deep freeze operations and over a hundred flights to McMurdo Sound .
