Burkhard Peters (born February 19, 1953 in Hagen ) is a German lawyer and politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ). He has been a member of the Schleswig-Holstein State Parliament since 2012 .

Life

Burkhard Peters finished school in Detmold in 1974 with the Abitur and then completed his basic military service . From 1975 to 1981 he studied law in Berlin and completed the legal clerkship that followed from 1982 to 1985 in February 1985 with the 2nd state examination in law. He has been working as a lawyer in Mölln since 1987 . In the trial of the Möllner arson attack from 1992 to 1993 before the Schleswig Higher Regional Court, he represented the husband of Bahide Arslan, who was murdered in the arson attack, as a joint plaintiff. In 2007, Peters represented the Schleswig-Holstein state association of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen before the Federal Constitutional Court in an organ dispute that led to the lifting of the 5 percent clause in Schleswig-Holstein's local electoral law.

Peters joined the Alternative List for Democracy and Environmental Protection in Berlin in 1984 , one of the predecessor organization of the Greens, and in 1987 switched to the Schleswig-Holstein State Association . From 1993 to 2006 he was the spokesman for BÜNDNIS 90 / Die Grünen in the Duchy of Lauenburg . From 2011 to 2013 he was a member of the party council at the state level.

Electoral offices

In the local elections in Schleswig-Holstein in 2008 , Peters was elected to the district council of the Duchy of Lauenburg . In the state elections in Schleswig-Holstein in 2012 and 2017 , he won the mandate on his party's state list . In the Schleswig-Holstein state parliament , Peters was a member of the petitions committee from 2012 to 2015 and a member of the parliamentary investigation committee " Friesenhof " from 2015 to 2017 . He has been a member of the Home and Legal Affairs Committee and the Judges' Election Committee since 2012 and has been a member of the Petitions Committee again since 2017.
