The Burnhope Seat is a mountain in the north of the Pennines in England . The border between Cumbria and County Durham runs over the mountain. The highest point of the mountain is in Cumbria, about 200 m east of it on the border of the two counties is a trigonometric point . With a notch height of 190 m, the mountain is qualified as a Marilyn .
According to the Countryside and Right of Way Act (2000) , the mountain has been classified as Access Land .
The mountain can be climbed from Weardale Valley as part of a hike around Burnhope Reservoir .
To the west of the mountain the road (B6277) from Alston to Middleton-in-Teesdale runs past the mountain and from here it is possible to climb the mountain. The Yad Moss ski area with ski lifts on the north-western slope of the mountain is also accessible from this road.
