Burnt Offering is an American death and thrash metal band from Chicago , Illinois , that was formed in 1987, split up in 1990, and reunited in 1997.

history

The band was formed in 1987 and released their first demo Death Decay that same year . The band reached a contract with Walkthrufyre Records , about which the self-titled debut album was released in the fall of 1989. In 1990, through the Chicago promoter Jam Productions , the band made appearances with bands such as Death , Dark Angel , Kreator , Coroner , Sacred Reich and Candlemass . The band also played as opening act for Sepultura's first concert in the US before the band split up in late 1990.

In July 1997 the band got together again and rehearsed again, before the first concert since the reunification took place with Transmetal in October . In January 1998 the band's own label Modern Day Recordings released the compilation Death Decay Complete , which included the debut album and the first demo. The release was followed by a tour of Mexico that included performances in nine cities. In early 1998, the band caught the attention of Missouri SOD ( Sounds of Death ) magazine . The magazine's label released their second album, Walk of the Dead , after the band went into the studio in late summer 1998 and finished recording in October.

style

The band plays aggressive, simple Thrash Metal, which is not suitable for casual listeners of the genre. The use of solos is also characteristic.
