The Burris nunatak is a nunatak in East Antarctic Victoria Land . In the Usarp Mountains it rises 3 km northwest of Mount Cox near the northern end of the Emlen Peaks .
The United States Geological Survey mapped it based on its own surveys and aerial photographs of the United States Navy from 1960 to 1963. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1970 after James M. Burris, assistant to the representative of the United States Antarctic Research Program on the McMurdo station from 1967 to 1968.
