The Buxheimer Weiher , also called Carthusian Lake , is a reservoir on the Buxach , a tributary of the Iller on the Buxheimer Flur. The Buxachtalbrücke of the federal motorway 96 leads over a wetland of the lake . The lake is mainly used for tourism.

The lake is located in the southern area of the municipality of Buxheim in the direction of Buxach . The Buxheimer Wald adjoins the western bank .
history
In the Middle Ages, the Upper Swabian Carthusian monks of the Buxheim Reich Charter created the lake as a breeding lake for fish. With the secularization it passed to the Counts Waldbott von Bassenheim. Around 1915, the Buxheimer Weiher became the property of the Emil Kaufmann family. Today the lake is privately owned by the Seifert family. There is a campsite on the eastern bank . There are several restaurants and leisure facilities around the lake.
