Maintenance workshop in Ohlsdorf 2013

The S-Bahn plant in Ohlsdorf is the central maintenance facility ( maintenance facility ) for the multiple units of the Hamburg S-Bahn operated with direct current . It is divided into an operational and a repair shop part.

Until March 2010 it was designated as the Hamburg-Ohlsdorf depot (Bw Ohlsdorf).

history

Ohlsdorf depot (July 1960)

In 1906 the Hamburg-Altona city and suburban railway (later just called the S-Bahn) was opened, at that time still fed with alternating current from the overhead line . The necessary workshop for this was built by the Prussian Railway Directorate Altona at the Hamburg-Ohlsdorf station , where the vehicles are located and which (in addition to the Elbgaustraße and Poppenbüttel plants) is now responsible for the maintenance, repair and maintenance of all direct current multiple units on the Hamburg S-Bahn.

When the Altona port railway was partially electrified from 1909 onwards , four electric locomotives were taken over from a test operation near Berlin , and the former Ohlsdorf depot was also responsible for their operational maintenance.

Up until the Second World War , 145 AC multiple units with DR numbers 551 to 830 (or later 1501 to 1645) (planned ET 99 ) and the three E 73 03, 05 and 06 electric locomotives were treated here.

In 1939, the conversion of the Hamburg S-Bahn to direct current with conductor rail operation began . The first railcars of the ET 171 series were based here. The mixed operation of AC and DC vehicles caused by the World War dragged on until 1955. From then on, Ohlsdorf was only home to vehicles for direct current and shunting operations and for winter service. From 1959 the route network of the S-Bahn was expanded and new vehicles of the ET 170 series were delivered. The 62 class 472 multiple units appeared in two series from 1974 to 1982 in Ohlsdorf.

Due to administrative reforms in 1985, the name of Bw Hamburg-Ohlsdorf was changed to Bw Hamburg (GSB), which means: Bw Hamburg S-Bahn division.

As part of the 1994 rail reform, the Hamburg Ohlsdorf depot was assigned to the local transport division and operated as a ZNL Hamburg-Ohlsdorf branch.

Since 1 March 2010, the former "is the depot " after the spin-off of Deutsche Bahn AG and the transition to the S-Bahn Hamburg GmbH , initially of a subsidiary DB city traffic , the DB Regio as S-Bahn station Ohlsdorf out. The following reporting offices (Mst) are attached to the plant: Mst Hamburg-Altona, Mst Pinneberg, Mst Hamburg-Bergedorf, Mst Aumühle, Mst Stade, Mst Wedel, Mst Hamburg-Poppenbüttel, Mst Hamburg-Neugraben, Mst Hamburg-Elbgaustrasse and Mst Hamburg- Ohlsdorf
