The Byfjord Tunnel is a traffic tunnel in Norway in the Rogaland province . It connects the municipality of Randaberg with the island of Sokn in the Boknafjord .

With a depth of 223 meters below sea ​​level and a length of 5,875 meters, it is one of the longest and deepest underwater tunnels in the world. The greatest gradient or the greatest gradient of the tunnel is approx. 8%. Like most road tunnels in Norway, the Byfjord tunnel is toll-free .

Together with the Mastrafjord tunnel , it is considered an important link on European route 39 , which connects Stavanger with the northern regions of Norway.
