Coordinates: 56 ° 6 ' N , 158 ° 42' E
The Bystrinski Nature Park ( Russian: Быстринский природный парк , Bystrinski prirodny park ) is located in the middle of the Kamchatka Peninsula and, with its size of 13,250 km², is the largest protected area in this part of Russia. The name of the park is derived from the largest river, the Bystraja . In 1996 the park, which has been under a special protection status since 1995, with its rarely touched landscapes and special natural treasures, was included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage as one of the six sub-areas of the World Heritage Area of Kamchatka Volcanoes today .
The park's administration and visitor center are located in the village of Esso , the larger of the two localities on the park's territory; the other is the village of Anagwai further downstream on the Bystraja .
landscape
The mountain world of the Sredinny mountain range lies in the park , rivers rich in fish run through the area and dense taiga forests extend over large parts. The park encloses significant areas of birch forests and tundra landscapes of Kamchatka, the geomorphology of which today is shaped by the volcanism of the past 20 million years. The 3,621 m high Ichinskaya Sopka on the western border of the park is the highest volcano in the area.
Tourism and nature protection
The park includes some protected areas as a nature reserve. The Manfred Hermsen Foundation from Bremen is involved in the field in various ways.
