Caesar Galster

Marius Friedrich Caesar Karl Theodor Galster ( January 12, 1844 in Neustrelitz - December 17, 1917 in Berlin-Halensee ) was a German theater actor .

Life

Galster, the son of the actor Karl Galster , was already used as a child actor at the Thaliatheater. Originally intended to be a merchant, he was still drawn to the stage. In 1860 he got his first job in Hamburg.

From 1862 to 1868 he worked at the Viktoriatheater in Berlin, from 1869 to 1871 at the Hoftheater Dresden and from 1871 to 1874 at the Hofburgtheater .

In 1874 he went to Riga, where he worked for almost 25 years until he left on February 17, 1898 and withdrew into private life. He gave his farewell, like his debut, as "Ferdinand von Drang" ( He must go to the country , comedy in 3 acts, by Friedrich Wilhelm Riese ).

In recognition of his services, he was made an honorary member of the Riga Theater. His last place of residence was Berlin, where he died in 1917.

His siblings were Carl Galster , Georgine Galster and Adele Garsò-Galster , all of whom were also actors.

The dancers Amalie Galster (1812–1881) and Hulda Galster (1810–1874), sisters of his father, were his aunts. The dancer Paul Taglioni , married to Amalie, was his uncle by marriage and their child Maria Taglioni the Younger (1833-1891), also a dancer, was his cousin.

He was married to the opera singer Livia Eichberger , daughter of the opera singer Josef Eichberger senior . His sons Wilhelm Eichberger and Josef Eichberger junior , both also opera singers, were his brothers-in-law.
