César Mousinho

Augusto César da Costa Mousinho († 1975 in Dili , Portuguese Timor ) was a Portuguese administrator, officer and East Timorese politician.

Mousinho was a member of the Acção Nacional Popular , the Portuguese unity party. From 1961 to February 1962 he was administrator of the Iliomar administrative office in the Portuguese Timor colony . At the end of Portuguese rule he was mayor of the colonial capital Dili . In 1974 Mousinho was one of the founders of the first Portuguese Timorese party, the União Democrática Timorense (UDT), and was its vice-president. Mousinho was one of the UDT representatives who traveled to Indonesia and Australia to negotiate the future of the colony. In the civil war that followed the UDT's attempted coup, Mousinho was captured by FRETILIN in Baucau and was brought back to Dili. There he was mistreated and eventually executed. It is believed that his body was buried in a mass grave in Aissirimou .
