Chauncey Gardner Johnson (* 20th December 1997 in Cocoa , Florida as Chauncey Gardner ) is a US American football poker players in the National Football League (NFL). He plays as safety for the New Orleans Saints .

Gardner-Johnson, actually just Gardner - he only added the suffix Johnson during college and had it printed on his dress for the first time in 2018 to honor his stepfather who raised him - attended the University of Florida and played for their team, the Gators , successfully college football , setting a total of 161 tackles and preventing 12 passes between 2016 and 2018 . He also got nine interceptions and three touchdowns .
NFL
Gardner-Johnson was selected as 105th overall by the New Orleans Saints in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft . In order to be able to choose him at all, an exchange with the New York Jets was necessary. The Saints had to use their fourth and fifth round picks to advance. He received a four-year contract over 3.3 million US dollars . Gardner-Johnson was able to establish himself as a professional immediately and was featured in all 16 games in his rookie season, seven times as a starter , and he was also called up in the special teams .
For his consistently good performance, he was selected by the Pro Football Writers Association in the All-Rookie Team 2019.
At the beginning of August 2020 he announced on Instagram that he would change his name and call himself Ceedy Duce in the future. Currently (end of August 2020) he is still listed on the Saints website as CJ Gardner-Johnson.
