Club Baloncesto Axarquía (short: CB Axarquía ) is a Spanish basketball club from Torre del Mar , a part of Vélez-Málaga in the " Comarca " Axarquía . The association also operates under the sponsor name ("Instituto Oftalmológico") Clínicas Rincón .
history
The association was founded in 1988. In the early years they played in the lower class basketball leagues in Spain. In the 2004/05 season they were promoted to the third division.
Three years later they made the leap into the second division, in which the team was able to hold for three years and reached the play-offs for promotion to the ACB league in the 2008/09 season . There the team failed in the quarterfinals.
The team acted for a while as a reserve team for the first division and multiple Euroleague participant Unicaja Málaga . When the first division club ended their cooperation in the meantime, the team from Clínicas Rincón had to leave the Liga Española de Baloncesto (LEB) and try to rebuild the Spanish amateur leagues (EBA). With the promotion in 2012 to the third class "LEB Plata" Clínicas Rincón reached the professional leagues in Spain again.
