CD83 is a surface protein and participates in the regulation of the immune response .

properties

CD83 is of activated lymphocytes , dendritic cells and interdigitating reticulum cells formed. CD83 is glycosylated . The CD83 mRNA is exported from the nucleus to the cytosol via CRM1 . Two isoforms of CD83 are formed from this, an immunostimulating membrane-bound form and an immunosuppressive soluble form. The soluble form has structural similarities to B7-1 , B7-2 and CD48 . CD83 is also involved in the maturation of B and T cells .
