Subliminal Crusher is an Italian thrash and melodic death metal band from Terni that was founded in 2002.

history

The band was formed in the winter of 2002 when bassist Jerico Biagiotti and drummer Rodolfo Alberto "Rod" "Rodeath" "Rawdeath" Ridolfi, members of the band SRL , which uses Italian lyrics, were working on a project with English lyrics. After guitarist Elvys Damiano and singer TooZ joined the band, they started writing the first songs. Then they went to the studio to record the EP Life Drought . The long-time friend of the band Stefano “Hatewerk” “HwK”, who joined the band in October 2003, played the second electric guitar, and he also mixed and mastered the EP. This includes a cover version of Pull the Plug , the original by Death . In 2004 the band contributed songs for the sampler Wild Compilation , Sky Pro Media Italian Metaland , Underground Metal Alliance Vol. 1 , Raw & Wild Compilation - Vol. 13 and A Place in Hell - Chapter 1 and in 2005 she was with Follow the Storm represented on a sampler. The band also performed live more often. After appearances together with Sadus , Darkane , Dismember , Entombed , Necrodeath , The Defaced , Sadist , Stormlord and Node , the self-produced debut album Antithesis was released on New LM Records in September 2005 , the album being distributed in Italy via Masterpiece Distribution . The mixing and mastering of the material was again done by Stefano. On the album, the group Testament covered the song Into the Pit . After a few line-up changes, Marco “Panduk” “Panda” Delle Fate joined as the new guitarist and Stefano “Steph” as the new singer in the summer of 2008. During the recordings of the second album, guitarist Stefano took over the mixing again, while the mastering in The Mastering Room AB in Gothenburg was done by Goran Finnberg . The recordings had taken place at HwK Industries in Spoleto , except for the drums, which were recorded in the Lightless Studios of the former guitarist Elvys Damiano. The sound carrier was released in November of the same year on Punishment 18 Records under the name Endvolution . At the time of publication, the group was on a small tour of Italy with Darkane, whose guitarist Christofer Malmström is included with a solo in the subliminal crusher song The Visionaire pt.1 . In the spring and summer of 2009 the band was less active as both Ridolfi and the singer Stefano became dads. From August 1st, the group continued their live activity by playing at the Armageddon Metal Fest . Here Andy could be heard as the new guitarist who replaced Delle Fate. In 2010 they went on tour with The Haunted and Methedras , before the next album was released on Revalve Records in January 2013 under the name Newmanity . The fourth album followed in 2016 and was titled Darketype .

style

Jost Frommhold from metal.de stated that Life Drought contains Thrash Metal in the style of Sepultura and Slayer . In an interview with him, Hatewerk added an influence of Swedish Death Metal in the style of Darkane , In Flames and At the Gates . The band also occasionally plays a cover of the at-the-gates song Blinded by Fear . Above all, Biagiotti is a fan of this genre, so influences like The Haunted are also added. He himself is more interested in American than European Extreme Metal , so that he counts Fear Factory , Meshuggah , Slayer, Metallica and Atheist among his influences. The title of the EP refers to the Manhattan Project and the dropping of Little Boy on Hiroshima . However, the lyrics would be about everyday life rather than politics. Reini from stormbringer.at wrote in his review of Endvolution that the band sounds like a more melodic version of older The Haunted. He described the music as a mix of melodic thrash metal and death metal in the Swedish style. The singing is not soulful, but rather aggressive. Yiannis Doukas from metal-temple.com also reviewed the album and also noticed the similarities to The Haunted, which is why he called Subliminal Crusher a clone. Further influences are represented in the form of the At-the-Gates album Slaughter of the Soul as well as Machine Head , Darkane, Slipknot , Pantera and Testament at Low times. Above all, the vocals are reminiscent of The Haunted and are more in the rapcore style.
