Methedras is an Italian death , groove and thrash metal band from Monza , founded in 1996.

history

The band was formed near Milan in 1996 , initially with two guitarists. Various demos were released in the following years . After these releases, the group focused more on playing concerts, performing with Entombed , Tankard and Carnal Forge , among others . In 2004 the debut album Recursive was released . The group then signed a contract with Hardebaran Management from Belgium , which ensured distribution and promotion throughout Europe . 2006 followed with the second album with The Worst Within . It contains, among other things, live videos from the performance at Wacken Open Air as well as a making-of video. Material from this was published in advance as a CD insert in the March issue of Italian magazine Metal Maniac . In 2005 the group could be seen at the Slovenian Metalcamp and in 2006 and 2008 at the Italian Evolution Festival . In 2008 they also went on a tour of Great Britain and Ireland with Dismember . In the same year several tours through Italy were held together with Hatesphere and Onslaught . In the middle of the year the group signed a record deal with Punishment 18 Records , which in February 2009 released the album Katarsis . A few months later the band went on a tour with Destruction through Eastern Europe, which consisted of performances in Austria , Slovakia , Romania , Bulgaria , Greece and Serbia . In June the group took part in the Italian Light Brigade Festival . After several line-up changes, further concerts were held in 2010: first with Heathen in Milan and then after the summer with The Haunted . At the end of October, the band made several appearances in Italy with Dew-Scented . The band also took part in the Total Metal Festival . In 2011 the group played at other Italian festivals such as the Metal Valley Festival , the Maximum Rock Festival and the Rock Hard Festival . She was also seen in Romania at the OST Mountain Festival and was the support act for Onslaught. Towards the end of the year, the band played a concert in Bergamo , their current home, for their 15th anniversary , in which Sadist and the befriended band Aneurysm also took part. In 2012 the band worked on new songs and performed with Exodus in Bari and Rome and took part in the Bol 'N' Rock Festival in Sardinia and the Total Metal Festival in southern Italy. At the beginning of 2014 the album System Subversion was recorded in the Domination Studio in San Marino with producer Simone Mularoni and released in November via Pavement Music .

style

Luxi Lahtinen from voicesfromthedarkside.de assigned the band to death and thrash metal in his review of Katarsis . The music sounds aggressive and you can hear that the members are talented and professional musicians who have invested a lot of time in the album. The songs would demand a lot from the listener, with the group combining modern and technically demanding Thrash Metal with Death Metal growls . The singing also reminded him of Chuck Billy on Will's Demonic . In addition, the band processed influences from more modern metal bands such as Lamb of God or Machine Head . Jakob from metal.de reviewed System Subversion and described the group as a mixture of Testament and Lamb of God, i.e. of Thrash and Groove Metal. The riffs are often fast, the songs are groovy and the band make use of breakdowns .
