Consumer Electronics-Advanced Technology Attachment , mostly short- CE-ATA is a specification for miniature hard drives with MMC - interface on small electronic devices such as mobile phones , PDAs and MP3 players . It is an optimized subset of the ATA / ATAPI - command set .

The specification (presented at the Intel Developer Forum in September 2004) was approved on March 2, 2005 and expanded on July 27, 2005. Consortium members include Apple , Hitachi , Intel , Marvell , Nokia , Seagate and Toshiba .

It is based on the specifications MMC 4.31 / 4.0 and ATA -6 ( NCITS 347-2001). It only enables the connection of hard disk storage. CE-ATA has fewer connection pins and should get by with lower voltage and lower energy consumption. The first samples are based on a 1.8 ″ form factor .
