The CENDO ( Croat . Istraživački Documentacijski Centar , English Research and Documentation Centar ) is a scientific research and documentation center. It researches and documents the Holocaust during the NDH regime in Croatia . The research and documentation center is headquartered in the Croatian capital Zagreb . The director of the center is Melita Švob .

founding

It was jointly developed with the Jewish Community of Zagreb , represented by Mr. Ognjen Kraus , the Jewish Claims Conference for Croatia (the main office is located on the premises of CENDO) and the Joint Distribution Committee , represented by Mr. Yechiel Bar-Chaim , in 2000 in Zagreb / ​​Croatia founded.

The research and documentation center CENDO was registered and listed in the Register of Associations of the Republic of Croatia in March 2002 as an independent Jewish-scientific organization and association, and also as a scientific organization and association in the Ministry of Research and Technology of the Republic of Croatia.

According to the statute, the main tasks include:

  • Researching the demographics of the Jewish minority in Croatia.
  • Research into migration and settlement of the Jewish minority in Croatia.
  • Research into Jewish family registers of the Zagreb Jewish Community .
  • The organization of surveys on the health and social status of the older Jewish generation in Croatia.
  • The exploration of the Sephardi in Croatia and participation in their meetings in Dubrovnik .
  • A collaboration in international cultural and scientific work.
  • Cooperation with young people in relation to their frequency in international projects for research on young people in Europe .
  • Parallel research into the demographic characteristics of the Zagreb population and the Zagreb Jewish community.
  • Organization and participation in major research projects , seminars, conferences and symposia in Croatia and internationally.
  • The organization of lectures , round tables and presentations.
  • The transmission of information and the collected knowledge.
  • The publication of specialist literature, research results, catalogs and educational material .
  • Cooperation with the Jewish communities in Croatia, the Jewish old people's home "Dom Lavoslav Schwarz" in Zagreb, Jewish senior clubs, the Union of Jewish Women of Croatia , the Association of Croatian Holocaust Survivors , the Miroslav Šalom Freiberger cultural community , other Jewish organizations in Croatia and abroad.
