CE Lleida Bàsquet is a Spanish basketball club from Lleida , Catalonia that is no longer participating in the game .

history

The association was founded in 1997 as Oli Baró de Maials . It was created through the merger of various small clubs from Lleida. In the 2000/01 season, the team played for promotion to the highest Spanish basketball league, the ACB league . The decisive duels against Menorca Bàsquet were victorious. After it was determined that they would play in the first division the following season, the team won the championship of the second division.

In the first season in the upper house Lleida reached the play-offs for the Spanish championship. Opponents in the quarterfinals were FC Barcelona , who won the series 3-1. While one missed the renewed play-off participation in the following year only by two wins, the team crashed in 2004 and stayed as table-16. close to the league. In the 2004/05 season, the performance deteriorated again significantly, so that the relegation to the second division followed. There the club was no longer one of the candidates for promotion and only reached the quarter-finals of the play-offs twice.

For the 2012/13 season, the club was no longer in a league because it would not have been competitive for economic reasons. With Força Lleida CE there is a newly created club in Lleida that plays in the second division, the Liga Española de Baloncesto .

European Cup

Under the name Caprabo Lleida , the club took part in the ULEB Cup twice. In the 2002/03 season, the team reached second place in a group of six and qualified for the second round. There the then reigning Russian champions Ural Great Perm was defeated. In the quarter-finals Lleida lost to the Slovenes from KK Krka . In the 2003/04 season, the team defeated Rhein Energie Köln twice in the group stage and became group winners. In the last sixteen they prevailed in two close games against Makedonikos Thessaloniki. As in the previous year, the team failed in the quarter-finals. The compatriots from Club Baloncesto Estudiantes were a total of 13 points better than Lleida.
