CPM 22 is a Brazilian punk - band of Barueri , in Greater São Paulo .

history

The band was formed in 1995. According to the former bass player Wally, the name was the abbreviation of a band motto, Crucificados e Podres hasta la muerte (German: Crucified and rotten to the point of death; Crucificados e Podres is Portuguese , hasta la muerte is Spanish ), and the number 22 was chosen at random . However, the band gives their first contact address with PO Box 1022 as a derivation of their band name (port: Caixa Postal Mil-Vinte-e-dois).

After first publications on independent labels , the album named after the band was released in 2001 on the Arsenal label, an April label. Her fame increased considerably as a result. The following album ( Chegou a Hora de Recomeçar , dt .: The hour of the restart has come) brought the band the commercial breakthrough and achieved gold status , as did the band's first DVD in the same year. The following Felicidade Instantânea (dt .: Instant-Glück) also achieved gold, as did the CD release of their concert for the Brazilian MTV television.

In 2008 the band won a Latin Grammy Award .

Despite their success, the band still sees itself as a punk band, with socially critical lyrics and a cultivated relationship to the underground . The band gives scene media interviews, and members are invited as guests of scene bands, for example singer Badauí with the Portuguese band Fitacola 2010.
