Fitacola (also Fita Cola , in German about adhesive tape ) is a Portuguese punk band from Coimbra .
history
The band was formed in 2003 in the university city of Coimbra. After her EP Rebobina e Pensa , which she produced in 2005 , her first album, Mundo Ideal , was released in 2008 . It was mastered by Alan Douches at New York's West West Side Studios and brought them first attention in the music scene. In 2010 another EP appeared in the fourth series of the new generation series from Optimus Records, the music label of the telecommunications company Optimus . Some of the six songs on the EP called Outros Dias were also released on the following album Caminhos Secretos , including the duet with CPM-22 singer Badauí, with whom the band also produced a video clip for the song. The piece Cai Neve Em Nova York (English: Snow falls in New York), a cover version by José Cid , remained a special feature of the EP , sung in a duet with Kalú, the drummer of Xutos & Pontapés . After the release of Caminhos Secretos , the band went on a headlining tour of Portugal in the winter of 2010 .
Fitacola have often been the opening act for internationally known punk bands. For example, they played with Less Than Jake in 2008 , with Rise Against in Lisbon's Coliseu dos Recreios in 2010 , with Sum 41 at their Portugal concerts in 2011, and in 2012 with Anti-Flag in the TMN ao Vivo concert hall (on the Cais do Sodré ).
