The Cabane Rambert is an alpine refuge in the Vaudois Alps . It is located southeast of the Grand Muverans at its foot at an altitude of 2580  m above sea level. M. in the Swiss canton of Valais . The hut is owned by the Lausanne- based Diablerets section of the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC).

history

A previous wooden building was built in 1895; it was enlarged to 44 seats in 1920. The hut in its current form was built in 1952.

The Rambert Hut bears the name of a long-time president of the Swiss Alpine Club, namely that of the literature professor Eugène Rambert (1830–1886). It is rare for a Swiss hut to be named after a person. Other examples are the Topali and Jenatsch huts .

Ascent

The shortest ascent to the hut begins in Ovronnaz and takes about 3½ hours.

Transitions

The Cabane Rambert is a stop on the Tour des Muverans , on which Grand and Petit Muveran are circled in 4 or 5 day stages.
