The Topalihütte of the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC) is located in the Mattertal above St. Niklaus at 2674 m above sea level. M.

St. Niklaus Dorf - Schwiedernen and local recreation center
From St. Niklaus train station ( 1126.7 m above sea level ) on the Brig-Visp-Zermatt railway line of the Matterhorn-Gotthard railway , head south-west through St. Niklaus village past the mountain guide museum ( 1118.5 m above sea level) . M. ) to the hamlet of Birchmatten, which has almost grown together with St. Niklaus Dorf. From there the hamlet of Schwiedernen is reached via the small road that leads on the left side of the Mattervispa in the hamlet of Birchmatten from the retirement and nursing home ( 1117 m above sea level ) via Schwiedernen to the hamlet of Mattsand . The local recreation center can be reached from the Schwiedernen chapel ( 1164.4 m above sea level ) heading east .
Schwiedernen - Topalihütte (Topaliweg)
From this small road, which follows the left side of the railway line in the hamlet of Birchmatten after crossing under the railway, the Topaliweg branches off on the south side of the Schwiedernen chapel ( 1164.4 m above sea level ) towards the west to the Topali hut ( 2674 m above sea level ). which can be reached in four to five hours of walking.
