M. and towers over the east summit ( Pointe Burnaby , 4135 m above sea level ) only insignificantly. From the summit there is an impressive view of the mighty Weisshorn -Nordgrat, the extension of which is actually the Bishorn.
The starting point for the normal route over the northwest flank is the Cabane de Tracuit ( 3256 m ), accessible from Zinal ( 1675 m ). Crossing the Bishorn via the normal route and the southwest ridge to the Weisshornjoch is the best approach to the Weisshorn north ridge. In spring you can climb almost to the summit of the Bishorn on skis over the normal route.
The first ascent of the western summit was made on August 18, 1884 by G. S. Barnes and R. Chessyre-Walker, supported by their guides Joseph Imboden and J. M. Chanton . The first ascent of the eastern summit (Pointe Burnaby) was achieved on August 6, 1884 by the Englishwoman Elizabeth Burnaby, accompanied by guides Joseph Imboden and Peter Sarbach .
