The Lauteraarhorn is a four-thousand-meter peak in the Bernese Alps .
The starting point for the normal route is the Aarbiwak ( 2731 m above sea level ), accessible from the Grimselhospiz ( 1980 m above sea level ).
The first ascent was made on August 8, 1842 by Pierre Jean Édouard Desor , Christian Girard, Arnold Escher von der Linth and the guides Melchior Bannholzer from Haslital and Jakob Leuthold from Grindelwald .
