Cadmium nitride is an inorganic chemical compound of cadmium from the group of nitrides .

Extraction and presentation

Cadmium nitride can be obtained by thermal decomposition of cadmium amide at 180 ° C.

It can also be obtained by thermal decomposition of cadmium azide at 210 ° C.

properties

Cadmium nitride is a black solid that decomposes on contact with air and moisture. Explosive decomposition occurs with diluted acids and alkalis. The compound has a cubic crystal structure of the anti- manganese (III) oxide type (a = 1079 pm).

Not explicitly listed in Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 (CLP) , but with the specified labeling it falls under the group entry cadmium compounds, with the exception of cadmium selenosulphide (xCdS.yCdSe) and reaction mass of cadmium sulphide and zinc sulphide (xCdS.yZnS) , Reaction mass of cadmium sulfide and mercury sulfide (xCdS yHgS) as well as the cadmium compounds, which are listed separately in this appendix in the Classification and Labeling Inventory of the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), accessed on March 23, 2019. Manufacturers or distributors can use the harmonized classification and expand labeling .
