Cafedrin is a drug that is used in fixed combination with theodrenaline for the parenteral treatment of a clinically relevant anesthesia-related drop in blood pressure , especially in emergency medicine .
Cafedrin acts as a stimulant on the β-adrenoceptor , which increases the heartbeat and cardiac output (CO). The effect starts slowly. The plasma half-life is 1 hour. The metabolism produces norephedrine as the main metabolite and various secondary metabolites.
Cafedrine hydrochloride is used pharmaceutically .
