Cagua (or Mount Cagua ) is an active stratovolcano on the Philippine peninsula of Luzon , which lies in the mountain range of the northern Sierra Madre .
The municipality of Gonzaga is in the immediate vicinity . The volcano, which is at least 600,000 years old and 1133 meters high, has five hot springs within a radius of 10 kilometers . In 1860 there was a phreatic explosion at Cagua , possibly accompanied by a pyroclastic current . In 1907 there was stronger Solfatari activity. The lava of Cagua consists of basalt and basaltandesite .
