Caimin Christian Douglas (born May 11, 1977 in Rosmalen , North Brabant ) is a track and field athlete who specializes in sprinting . At the age of five, Douglas' family returned to Curaçao , their father's homeland.

Sporting successes

Douglas, the son of a Dutch mother and a father from the Netherlands Antilles , celebrated his first successes as a track and field athlete when he won the Curaçao championships in 100 and 200 meters . He soon received a scholarship from the University of Texas , where he then trained.

He took part in the 2000 Summer Olympics for the Netherlands Antilles and the 2004 and 2008 Summer Olympics for the Netherlands .

At the end of 2001 Douglas applied for a change of nationality in order to be able to start for the Netherlands . He was therefore banned from major international events such as the 2002 European Athletics Championships for one year . Caimin Douglas celebrated his greatest success at the World Athletics Championships in 2003 when he, together with Timothy Beck , Troy Douglas and Patrick van Balkom , won the bronze medal in the 4 x 100 meter relay behind the teams of the USA and in 38.87 seconds Brazil won. The originally runner-up British relay team was subsequently disqualified for the doping offense by Dwain Chambers .

At the 2004 Summer Olympics , the Dutch relay team, which was competing in the same line-up, was eliminated due to a substitution error in the preliminary run, in 2008 the sprint relay at the Beijing Games finished seventh in the final, but was also disqualified due to a substitution error.

Douglas is multiple Dutch champion in 100 and 200 meters.
