Patrick Petrus Marinus van Balkom (born September 14, 1974 in Waalwijk ) is a former Dutch sprinter .
Sporting successes
Together with Timothy Beck , Troy Douglas and Caimin Douglas , he won the bronze medal in the 4 x 100 meter relay in 38.87 s at the World Athletics Championships in 2003 behind the teams of the USA and Brazil.
At the 2004 Summer Olympics , the Dutch relay team, with the same line-up, was eliminated due to a mistake in the prelude.
Van Balkom celebrated his greatest successes as a single starter in the 200-meter run : He won the silver medal at the 1999 Summer Universiade in Palma . At the World Indoor Athletics Championships in 2001 in Lisbon van Balkom secured the bronze medal in 20.96 s over the same distance. In 2003 he became national indoor champion.
Van Balkom ended his career in 2006.
