Calibrachoa serrulata is a plant type from the genus Calibrachoa in the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae).

description

Calibrachoa serrulata is a small, branched subshrub . The twigs are upright to ascending, the tips are densely leafed. The leaves are firm, hairless, linear, tapering to a point at the base, 22 mm long and 2 mm wide. The leaf margin is rolled up and covered with fine, triangular teeth, the tips are lightly reinforced with whitish hair.

The flowers are on fine pedicels that are 10 to 20 mm long and hairless. The calyx is divided to about the middle, furrowed and sparsely finely haired or hairless. The calyx tube is narrow, inversely conical and 4 mm long, the calyx lobes are linear, pointed and slightly irregular. At flowering time they are about 10 mm long and finely sawn. The crown is red to red-purple and finely hairy on the outside. The corolla tube is cylindrical from the base to about 7 mm, the following 12 mm are bell-shaped. The corolla lobes are almost cut off and 8 mm long. The stamens are deep in the corolla tube. The scar is spherical.

distribution

The species occurs in Brazil in the state of Santa Catarina.

Botanical history

Calibrachoa serrulata was first described in 1964 by Lyman Bradford Smith and Robert Jack Downs as Petunia serrulata . The type specimen was collected on October 23, 1958 by R. Reitz and RM Klein under the collective number 7446 in Sao Joaquim ( Brazil ). The type evidence is in the USA National Herbarium of the Smithsonian Institute . Due to the division of the genus Petunia and the preservation of the name , the new name Calibrachoa serrulata was given in 1997 by João Renato Stehmann and João Semir .
