Kerners Schmuckblume ( Callianthemum kernerianum ) is a plant type from the family Ranunculaceae (Ranunculaceae).
description
Kerner's ornamental flower is a perennial herbaceous plant that reaches heights of 3 to 6 cm, with a bare, curved, single-flowered stem. The two to three basal leaves are still developing during the flowering period; later they are about as long as the flower stalk. The leaf blade is pinnate unpaired with partial leaves that are two- to three-pinnate with long, linear tips.
The flowering period extends from May to July. The hermaphrodite flowers are 25 to 35 mm wide. The five reddish sepals fall off after flowering. The 10 to 20 whitish, often pink or purple overflowing, narrow-egg-shaped or wedge-shaped petals are twice as long as the sepals.
The fruits are bare.
Occurrence
Kerner's ornamental flower is endemic in the southern Alps around Lake Garda . It thrives at altitudes between 1600 and 2000 meters on soils above limestone, in stony lawns and pastures, and on exposed hilltops.
