Calvin Davis (born April 2, 1972 in Eutan ) is a former American sprinter who specializes in the 400-meter hurdles .

At first he wasn't a hurdler, but mainly competed in the usual 400-meter run . At the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Barcelona in 1995 , he was a member of the US 4 x 400 meter relay . Together with Rod Tolbert , Tod Long and Frankie Atwater , he won the gold medal in 3: 07.37 minutes ahead of the teams from Italy and Japan .

But since he was unable to achieve outstanding results as a single starter internationally, his coach at the time, Steve Silvey, advised him to switch to the hurdles sprint. After initial doubts, he finally took up hurdles training in the winter of 1995. Davis made the transition so well that after just a few months he was able to qualify as third in the US eliminations for the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta . There he surprisingly won the bronze medal in 47.96 s behind his compatriot Derrick Adkins and Samuel Matete from Zambia .

As a result, however, Davis could no longer match his form from the Olympic season. In 2001 he managed again to qualify for the World Athletics Championships in Edmonton . There he was eliminated in the semifinals.

Calvin Davis is 1.83 m tall and weighed 79 kg during his playing days.
