Camille Le Tellier de Louvois
Camille Le Tellier de Louvois ( April 11, 1675 - November 5, 1718 ) was a French cleric.
Tellier de Louvois was a son (of six) of the politician François-Michel Le Tellier, marquis de Louvois and his wife Anne de Souvré , marquise de Courtenvaux.
Tellier de Louvois studied theology at the Sorbonne and was able to successfully complete this study with a doctorate in 1700. He then got a job as curator of the collection of coins and antiquities (Cabinet des medailles) in the Bibliothèque nationale ( Paris ). At the same time he was appointed vicar general to the archbishop in Reims .
As early as 1699, the Académie des sciences accepted him as a member and in 1705 the Académie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres elected him to its member. In the following year, the French Académie appointed Tellier de Louvois to succeed the late Jean Testu de Mauroy ( Fauteuil 4 ); he was succeeded by the Bishop of Clermont , Jean-Baptiste Massillon in this place.
