Caminhos de Ferro de Angola (German: Railways of Angola ) is the national railway company of Angola . It currently has a partially active route network and consists of three systems.

Namib Railway

The Namibebahn (Portuguese: Caminho de Ferro do Namibe , formerly Mossamedes-Bahn or Linha de Moçâmedes ) runs from Moçâmedes to Matala (425 km, 7 diesel locomotives). The track width is 1067 mm , over 80% of the network has been renovated, namely Namibe – Matala – Menongue and Dondo – Cassinga, a total of 831 km; New diesel locomotives and passenger cars were delivered from India. The Lubango – Chibia branch had a track width of 600 mm, was 125 km long and has been closed.

Benguela Railway (CFB)

The Benguela Railway ( Caminho de Ferro de Benguela ) runs from Lobito to Dilolo (1350 km); Dilolo lies on the border in the Democratic Republic of the Congo with a connection to the Société Nationale des Chemins de fer du Congo . Local transport is operated on the Lobito – Benguela section; since 2005 there has been passenger traffic on the Lobito– Cubal section and goods traffic on the Lobito– Huambo section . Local traffic has been taking place around Huambo since 2007. Since 2009 the whole stretch to Dilolo has been demined; Since the beginning of 2015, the whole route has been passable again.

Luandabahn (CFL)

The Luanda Railway ( Caminho de Ferro de Luanda ) leads from Luanda -Bungo to Malanje (402 km) with a track width 1067 mm. Trains run from Luanda to Malanje and Viana (20 connections daily since October 2010). The Zenza do Itombe-Dondo branch is currently closed, as are the Canhoca - Golungo Alto (31 km) and Porto Amboim - Gabela (123 km) branches , both with a gauge of 600 mm.

In 2008 new diesel locomotives and passenger cars were delivered from India for the Luanda – Malanje route. In June and July 2010, instruction and test drives were successfully carried out with the new vehicles between Luanda and Malanje. The average speed is 50 to 60 km / h. The rehabilitation of the Zenza do Itombe – Dondo branch has also been completed. All larger towns have new reception buildings, all of them with two floors, with driving service rooms, ticket offices, waiting room, restaurant, shop and official residence, some have also received medical posts. Scheduled traffic between Luanda and Malanje began on January 13, 2011.
