Malanje (also Malange ) is a city and a district in Angola with about 587,000 inhabitants. Most of the population belongs to different sub-groups of the Ambundu .
The city has been the seat of a Catholic and a Methodist bishop since the middle of the 20th century.

Malanje is the capital of the Malanje Province . The city is the seat of a district of the same name ( Município ).
The Malanje district consists of four municipalities (Comunas):
- Cambaxe
- Malanje
- Ngola Luige
- Quimbamba

With the Luanda Railway performs a railway in the state rail company CFA ( Caminhos de Ferro de Angola ) from the capital Luanda to Malanje. However, due to the decolonization conflict in 1974/75 and the Angolan civil war from 1975 to 2002, operations were shut down for years and only resumed in January 2011.
Malanje has an airport with the IATA airport code MEG and the ICAO code FNMA.

In Malanje is u. a. the Universidade Njinga Mbande, created in 2019 with a medical faculty, the Instituto Superior Politécnico de Malanje , the Instituto Superior de Tecnologia Agro Alimentar and the Universidade Privada de Malange (UPRIMA).
