Marimba is a small town and county in Angola . The district borders the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the north .

administration

Marimba is the seat of a district of the same name ( Município ) in the province of Malanje , with an area of 5940 km². The district has 30,086 inhabitants (2014 estimate), of which around 21,000 live in the parishes of Dala Samba and Tembo Aluma.

The following communities (Comunas) are in the Marimba district:

education

In Marimba County, 131 teachers teach 6,200 first to tenth grade students in 71 classrooms. There is a shortage of teachers. The district administration was unable to fill 60 teaching positions. The main reason given is the poor road conditions, which make it difficult for teachers to attend schools in the rural areas of the district, and they therefore do not apply for the relevant positions. There is also a lack of classrooms, which is estimated at 40 classrooms. (As of September 2013)

economy

The district is strongly characterized by agriculture. The main crops of the predominantly small-scale agriculture are manioc , peanuts , sweet potatoes and sesame . The residents also fish and wash diamonds from the rubble in the Cuango River .

In the course of the state programs to fight hunger and reduce poverty, the district administration has announced the expansion of communal kitchens, the establishment of rural markets for agricultural products, the purchase of carpenter and carpentry equipment, and the promotion of agricultural production communities. The improvement of waste disposal and the construction of an administration building in the Tembo Aluma community should also provide further positive impulses in the district.
