Israel Campbell Money (born August 31, 1960 in Maybole ) is a former Scottish football goalkeeper and coach .

Career

player

Campbell Money was born in Maybole around 15 kilometers south of Ayr in 1960 . Until 1978 he played for the Dailly Amateurs from the town of the same name in South Ayrshire . After that he was active in the youth teams of FC St. Mirren until 1981 . On August 1, 1981, Money played for the first time in the first team in a preparation game against Southampton FC . Behind the established Billy Thomson , Money remained a substitute goalkeeper at Love Street until 1984 . When Thomson joined Dundee United in 1984 , Money became the Saints' new goalkeeper. With money in goal, St. Mirren won the Scottish Cup final against Dundee United with Thomson in goal in 1987 . The Paisley Saints won the final with a 1-0 win after extra time with a goal from Ian Ferguson , and won the Cup in Scotland for the third time since 1926 and 1959 . In December 1992 Money scored two penalty goals against Cowdenbeath FC and Clydebank FC . By 1996 the goalkeeper had played over 400 competitive games and was a fan favorite. At the Saints, he holds the club record for most European games, a total of eight. He is considered to be one of the best goalkeepers in St. Mirren's history. In 2004 he was inducted into the club's Hall of Fame .

Trainer

At the end of his playing career he was assistant coach at the Saints under Jimmy Bone before he left the Paisley club to become head coach at FC Stranraer himself . During his time at Stranraer, he led the club to promotion to the 2nd division and to win the Scottish League Challenge Cup in 1996/97 . After leaving Stranraer in 1999, he joined Ayr United in 2002 . In 2004 he was replaced by Gordon Dalziel . Money then moved to FC Stenhousemuir as youth director , where he took over as coach of Des McKeown in early November 2006 . In 2007 he resigned. From 2008 to 2009 he briefly headed the Cumnock Juniors.
