The 1974 Canadian Open was a professional, non-ranking snooker tournament for the 1974/75 season . They were in September 1974 within the framework of the Canadian National Exhibition in Canadian Toronto discharged. The winner was local hero Cliff Thorburn , who defeated his Northern Irish rival Dennis Taylor 8: 6 in the final. Northern Irishman Alex Higgins played the highest break with a 139 break.
Prize money
Only the winner received prize money of 1,500 pounds sterling .
Tournament course
All 16 participants played for victory from the start of the tournament, whereby the field of participants consisted of five professional players and eleven amateurs, including two upcoming professional players.
