Canby , named after Civil War General Edward Canby , is a small town in Clackamas County in the US state of Oregon . The city is located south of the county seat of Oregon City , halfway between Portland , the state's largest city, and its capital, Salem .
The country's largest dahlia grower, Swan Island Dahlias, is based in Canby .
Mount Hood is seen from the southeast of the city .
The National Park Service has five buildings and sites for Canby in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) (as of January 3, 2019), including the Macksburg Lutheran Church .
