Canlaon is a Philippine city ( Component City ) in the Negros Oriental Province . Canloan is 168 km from the provincial capital Dumaguete City . Vallehermoso borders on Canlaon City to the east and Guihulngan to the south . The Kanlaon volcano lies in the urban area , at 2,465 m above sea level, the highest mountain in the Negros Oriental province.
