The ships of the Cap-San class are container ships that serve the Europe - South America - East Coast service of the Hamburg Süd shipping company . The first two units of the class entered service in 2013 and initially served the Asia – South America – east coast route. Together with the Valparaíso Express class cargo ships launched at Hapag-Lloyd in 2016 , they are among the largest reefer container ships in the world.
technology
In contrast to the majority of conventional container ships, the deckhouse is arranged far forward, which enables an improved line of sight and thus a higher forward deck load. The holds of the ships are closed with pontoon hatch covers. The ships have a maximum container capacity of 9600 TEU. There are connections for 2100 integral refrigerated containers .
The ships are powered by a seven-cylinder two-stroke MAN-B & W 7S90ME-C9 diesel engine built under license from Hyundai, with an output of 55,300 hp, which acts directly on a fixed propeller and enables a speed of around 21 knots.
