The Capanna Prodör ( German Prodörhütte ) is a refuge in the village of Carì in the municipality of Faido in the Valle Leventina in the canton of Ticino in the Lepontine Alps at an altitude of 1750 m above sea level. M.
History and description
The first hut was built in 1931 and was about 500 meters lower than the current building, right next to the old village center of Prodör. In the years 1967 to 1968 a new building in masonry and wood was erected. It belongs to the Pizzo Molare Faido section of the Unione Ticinese Operai Escursionisti (UTOE) under the umbrella organization Federazione Alpinistica Ticinese (FAT).
In 2008 the building was completely renovated and modernized. The hut consists of two lounge / dining rooms with 50 seats, which are heated with a fireplace or wood stove. There are cooking facilities in two separate kitchens. The 50 beds are spread over 5 rooms: two with 4, two with 12 and one with 10 beds. All rooms are electrically lit. Hot water comes from solar panels.
The hut is suitable for schools and groups, also for longer stays.
