The Rifugio Gana Rossa (also Capanna Gana Rossa ) ( German Gana Rossahütte ) is a refuge in the Carì region of the Faido community in the Leventina Valley in the Swiss canton of Ticino in the Lepontine Alps at an altitude of 2270 m above sea level. M.
History and description
The stone masonry hut was inaugurated in 1996 and renovated in 2017. It belongs to the Pizzo Molare Faido section of the Unione Ticinese Operai Escursionisti (UTOE) under the umbrella organization Federazione Alpinistica Ticinese (FAT).
It has a kitchen, a dining room with 20 seats and a wood stove as well as a bedroom for 12 to 16 people and an outdoor area with tables. The lighting is done with solar panels.
The hut stands on a small terrace with a wide view of the opposite mountain peaks. The area is rich in flora and fauna such as chamois, roe deer, deer and marmots. The mountain hut is also suitable for ski tours.
Hut access with walking time
- From the holiday resort of Carì ( 1622 m above sea level ) via the Alpe Vignone in 2 hours (level of difficulty T2).
- From Molare ( 1488 m above sea level ) in 2 hours (T2).
Molare and Carì can be reached by public transport.

- Laghi di Mottella ( 2258 m above sea level ) in 45 minutes (T3).
Ascent
- Pizzo Molare ( 2585 m above sea level ) in 3 ½ hours (T4)
