The Capanna Cadagno ( German Cadagnohütte ) is a refuge near the Alpe di Piora in Val Piora ( Lepontine Alps ), in the municipality of Quinto in the canton of Ticino . It stands at an altitude of 1987 m above sea level. M. above the Ritomsee at Lago di Cadagno .
history
The Cadagno Hut was built in 1934 and almost completely renovated in 1993 and 2013. It belongs to the SAT Ritom section of the Società Alpinistica Ticinese (SAT) and the umbrella organization Federazione Alpinistica Ticinese (FAT). The Pioratal is a higher side valley of the Leventina Valley . It is via mountain hiking trails, a single-lane road to the Ritom dam 1850 m above sea level. M. or accessible via the steep Ritom funicular (max. 87.8%).
The hut is manned from the beginning of June to mid-October. There is a dining room for 100 people and an outside terrace with tables. Regional products and specialties are on the menu. For the winter there is a lounge with wood heating. There are 78 beds in 8-bed rooms as well as toilets and showers.
Approaches and crossings, neighboring huts
- From the mountain station of the Ritom cable car in 1 ½ hours walking time.
- From the Lukmanier Pass ( 1915 m above sea level ) over the Passo dell'Uomo ( 2218 m above sea level ) in 2½ hours.
- From Alpe Casaccia (Lukmanier pass road) ( 1818 m above sea level ) via Passo delle Colombe ( 2381 m above sea level ) or Passo del Sole ( 2376 m above sea level ) in 2 ½ hours.
- From the Prodörhütte over the Passo Predèlp ( 2452 m above sea level ) and the Passo del Sole in 4 ½ hours.
- From the Cadlimohütte via Lago di Dentro and Lago di Tom in 2 ½ hours.
- From the Dötrahütte via Acquacalda ( Blenio valley ) and the Passo del Sole in 4 hours.
- From the Bovarina hut over the Passo di Gana Negra ( 2434 m above sea level ) and the Passo dell'Uomo in 5 to 6 hours.
- From Airolo through the Val Canaria to Pian Töi ( 1891 m above sea level ), via the Bocchetta (gap, transition) di Föisc ( 2122 m above sea level ) or the Bocchetta del Camoghé ( 2242 m above sea level ) in 5 to 6 hours.
- From Lurengo over the Passo Forca ( 2112 m above sea level ) in 3 hours.

The hut and the area are suitable for hikers, nature lovers, bikers, schools, families and groups. It is located on the classic biker route 65 “Gottardo Bike, Andermatt - Biasca”.
