Scha'arei Tikva ( Hebrew : שַׁעֲרֵי תִּקְוָה) is an Israeli settlement in the northwest of the West Bank . The settlement was founded in 1983 and belongs to the Shomron regional administration .

The international community regards Sha'arei Tikva, like all Israeli settlements in the territories occupied since 1967, as illegal under international law . Israel denies this.

location

Scha'arei Tikva is located near the Green Line and on the Israeli side of the barrier in the northwest of the West Bank, 14 kilometers west of Ariel and 13 kilometers northeast of Petach Tikva . Together with the immediately adjacent settlements of Elkana and Etz Efraim , Scha'arei Tikva forms a small settlement block that is spatially separated from the rest of the West Bank by the barrier.

The Palestinian villages of Azun Atme , Bayt Amin , Mas'ha and Saniriya are also close to the settlement . Scha'arei Tikva was built on land that was confiscated from the first three of the four villages , according to the Palestinian NGO Applied Research Institute - Jerusalem (ARIJ) .
