Cape Murmanskiy ( Russian Мыс Мурманскиь Mys Murmanski , German 'Cape Murmansk' ) is a cape on the Princess Astrid coast of the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It is 40 km north-northeast of Leningradskiy Island on the west side of the Lazarev Ice Shelf .
Scientists on a Soviet Antarctic expedition mapped it in 1959 and named it after the city of Murmansk . The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names translated this designation into English in 1971.
