Cappellari glacier

The Cappellari Glacier is an 18 km long glacier in Marie Byrd Land in western Antarctica . In the Hays Mountains, it flows from the northwest shoulder of Mount Vaughan in a westerly direction to the Amundsen Glacier , which it reaches immediately north of Mount Dort .

A first rough mapping was carried out by participants in the Byrd Antarctic Expedition (1928–1930). The United States Geological Survey carried out a new mapping based on its own measurements and aerial photographs of the United States Navy from the years 1960 to 1964. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named the glacier in 1967 after Lewis K. Cappellari (* 1937), ionospheric researcher at McMurdo Station in 1965.
